An introduction to the homogenization of linear problems. The basic techniques are
- Formal asymptotic expansion. A powerful tool to get the homogenized problem and the associated cell problem, but not so easy to validate convergence and various error estimates.
- Oscillating test functions. This works in the variational framework, using subtle cancellation to handle the limit of the product of two weakly convergence sequences
- Two-scale convergence method.
- Viscosity solution and comparison method.
